Infrastructure Improvement Project - Portions of Wyndamere Road and Salem Road To Be Closed
A new traffic signal will be installed at the intersection of Salem Rd. and Wyndamere Rd.  This will require the widening of both Salem and Wyndamere Roads at the intersection and also the installation of a new retaining wall on Wyndamere Rd. adjacent to the existing bridge over I-83. The work is tentatively scheduled to begin on Tuesday, June 29th and will last approximately 3 months. Wyndamere Road from Salem Road to Lowther Road will remain completely closed through September, followed by varying lane restrictions for the remainder of the project. If this closure affects your travel, please follow the posted detours.

We apologize in advance for any inconveniences.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Slate Hill Road Bridge Closed for Public Safety
The Slate Hill Road Bridge was closed today, Thursday, February 25th for the safety of our residents. The bridge, which carries Slate Hill Road over the Yellow Breeches Creek in Lower Allen Township and Fairview Township, is jointly owned by York and Cumberland Counties and has a 3-ton limit.
During a scheduled safety inspection, in accordance with the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) program, engineers determined that based on the poor condition of several components of the bridge, and evidence that it is being used by overweight vehicles; the bridge is no longer safe for traffic. A three-mile detour will be posted.
Based on traffic counts completed in 2019, the bridge carries approximately 1,600 vehicles per day. The Slate Hill Road Bridge, a four span Earth Filled Stone Masonry Arch Bridge built in 1900, is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.
The bridge has been slated to undergo extensive renovations and restoration.  This work is anticipated to begin in May 2021.  For the safety of our residents, and the preservation of the bridge, it will remain closed until the anticipated December 2021 completion of the restoration.

The Sheepford Road Bridge has been permanently closed by York/Cumberland County due to safety issues. If you have any questions concerning the closure, please contact Heather Bitner of the York County Planning Commission.  The bridge is not owned or operated by Fairview Township.
